TRAINING MODELS is a self-experiment in GPT-based therapy. In conversations with fellow composers and artists, I’ve noticed a common thread – the apprehension that arises when we venture into new artistic territories. We share a subtle fear of leaving our creative comfort zone, be it by trying out new techniques, mixing genres or experimenting with unfamiliar materials. This hesitation stems not only from the artistic risks, but also from the potential economic consequences. The basic principles of art – exploration, play and reflection – turn into delicate decisions that can potentially affect one’s career, for better or for worse. The outcome remains uncertain until we take the plunge. These concerns are usually discussed with friends, partners, family or colleagues, but not often enough. So I wondered if I could find a virtual extension of these conversations – something that wouldn’t stretch my fears and could embody the different language-based roles that different people play in my life. I began to ask myself: could I be the training model? The result of this exploration was markedly different from the music I *usually* make. This change was not due to the direct guidance of my personal GPT *therapist*, but rather the process of articulating my doubts, considering possible paths, and engaging in the interactions that followed. Sometimes the advice was flat and business-like, full of motivational clichés, but sometimes it offered beautiful words of encouragement that helped me embrace hybridity.” (SARA GLOJNARIĆ)
