BRIDGING BAMAKO BERLIN

Kamale N’goni meets synthesizer, balafon meets trombone. In “Bridging Bamako Berlin”, traditional sounds from Mali are mixed with electronic sounds from Berlin. In direct musical dialog and impressive improvisations, the musicians in “Bridging Bamako Berlin” seek a new musical language beyond classical categories and narratives.

Bridging Bamako on Pantopia Music

Lassine Koné

Lassine Koné’s music is the epitome of an independent, post-colonial avant-garde. In his practice, he is both highly virtuosic and self-taught. His sounds, which can be located somewhere between tradition, noise and Jimi Hendrix, are by no means influenced by the West, but have grown in their very own way. On the occasion of his collaboration with the Marc Sinan Company and the Neue Vocalsolisten, he founded the Djiguya Orchestra together with his colleagues Habib Sangaré and Joel Diarra. Founded in 2019, the orchestra from Bamako is dedicated to independent contemporary music. It combines traditional instruments from Mali with European music and thus creates a special transcultural exchange. They achieved international recognition with the multimedia music performance AM ANFANG by Marc Sinan and a choreography by Kettly Noël.

Pune

Pune is a DJ, producer and co-founder of the Danzee Collective. Based in Berlin since 2017, he plays and produces 90s garage house from the depths of Neukölln with his vinyl-only sets featuring drum breaks with strong liberation vocals. UOCRA (2020), released by Andras Records (WLS), solidifies its sound identity with a vibrant cosmic acid house vibe. GANBARE is his latest release, where he shows his versatility by merging styles like acid bass with dub techno.

Habib Sangaré
