The innovative composition DESPACITO VARIATIONS explores new artistic workflows in the use of generative audio tools. Malte Giesen had a guitar sample from the well-known piece “Despacito” calculated countless times with the help of Sample RNN and selected the most interesting results. These are not directly incorporated into the piece, but transcribed and recorded live by guitarist Marc Sinan.
By using pedal effects, Sinan brings the sounds generated by the AI back into the live performance.

MALTE GIESEN Malte Giesen, award-winning composer and head of the Studio for Electroacoustic Music at the Akademie der Künste Berlin, formed his musical expertise through studies with renowned teachers in Stuttgart, Paris and Berlin. With scholarships from renowned institutions such as the GdF MH Stuttgart and the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, as well as numerous awards, including the German Music Competition 2009 and the Ernst-von-Siemens Music Foundation Composition Prize 2021, he has made his mark on the contemporary music scene.
