Program<\/strong><\/p>\n Sara Glojnari\u0107: Latitudes<\/em> (2020)<\/p>\n Sergei Zagny: Sonata<\/em> (1990)<\/p>\n Rebecca Saunders: Shadow<\/em> (2013)<\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n Magdalena Cerezo has the following to say about the individual pieces, their meaning and interpretation:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Latitudes<\/em> – “Latitudes<\/em> is a piano solo piece that reflects the intensity of long-distance training. The rigorous nature of the piece presents the player with an almost grotesque level of virtuosity, where he must demonstrate his technical excellence in a controlled environment. Slight mistakes throw the player off the metric grid, and there are few opportunities to take a deep breath. As with all endurance training, the results are more successful if they are carried out consistently and effectively with the least effort.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sonata<\/em>– “For me, this is about an artificial intelligence that tries to learn human emotions and behavior, mostly through imitation and constant repetition. The harmony is absolutely “classical”, yet there is always something mechanical about it, so in my view the performer should avoid using the usual agogics of the piano language to emphasize the true compositional qualities of the piece, so to speak.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Shadow<\/em> – “I’ve been playing Shadow <\/em>since 2016 and I’m still fascinated by how such a seemingly “sound-centric” composition can become a performative piece. The connection between the physicality of the player and the actual production of the sound is very close, also from a dramaturgical perspective.
